Estate Security in Los Angeles
Licensed armed officers, gate posts and patrol checks for hillside and canyon estates across the Westside, the Valley and the coast, from a company owned by an active sworn law enforcement officer.
Los Angeles estate owners face a specific, well documented problem. LAPD has described organized burglary crews, many traveling from South America, that target wealthy homes near canyons, hiking trails and open space and sometimes use jamming devices to defeat alarm systems.
More detail
In May 2026 the Los Angeles County District Attorney charged seven people tied to more than 20 organized residential burglaries in Encino, Beverlywood, Westwood and other neighborhoods, and prosecutors said the crews watched social media for signs a home was empty and posed as delivery drivers. High profile homes keep getting hit: Brad Pitt's Los Feliz home was ransacked in June 2025, and a month later private security officers were first on scene at an attempted break in at Yoshinobu Yamamoto's Hollywood Hills home.
Gates alone do not solve it. Beverly Park and Bel Air Crest are guard gated, but the Bel Air gates on Sunset are landmarks, and most interior streets are public roads. Blackout Security Services places licensed armed officers on site, staffs gate and residence posts, and runs randomized patrol checks for second homes and properties left empty during travel. Officers work on our proprietary accountability platform with NFC checkpoint scans, geofencing, GPS tracking and real time incident logging, and you receive a documented report for each service period.
What an estate program covers
- Armed or unarmed residence posts, daytime, overnight or around the clock, sized to how the home is actually used
- Gate and front door posts that log every contractor, vendor, delivery and guest against an approved list
- Rear perimeter checks along canyon, trail and open space edges, the entry points LAPD has tied to burglary crews
- Travel and vacancy coverage with scheduled and randomized patrol checks while the family is away
- Plain clothes officers for owners who want protection without a uniform at the door
- Coordination with estate managers, house staff and business managers on access rules and confidentiality
Why Los Angeles estates need on site presence
- Prosecutors say crews use WiFi jammers, fake food and retail bags, and hidden cameras disguised as yard decor to case homes
- Celebrity and athlete homes have been targeted repeatedly, including the Kidman and Urban home in February 2025
- Officers on site can see, record and report while police are still en route, which is where most of the value of a post comes from
- Hillside lots north of Sunset sit in Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones, so officers carry evacuation and access plans for each property
- Spec homes and second residences often sit empty for weeks, which is exactly the condition crews look for
Reporting you can hand to an insurer or attorney
- NFC checkpoint scans prove each perimeter point was physically checked, with time stamps
- Geofencing and GPS tracking confirm officers stayed on post for the full shift
- Real time incident logging with photos, so you or your estate manager see events as they happen
- A documented report for each service period that summarizes coverage, visitors and incidents

Questions we get
Which police agency responds to my Los Angeles estate?
It depends on the address. Bel Air, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Encino, Los Feliz and the Hollywood Hills are in the City of Los Angeles and served by LAPD. Beverly Hills and San Marino have their own departments. Malibu, Calabasas and Hidden Hills contract with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department through the Malibu/Lost Hills Station. Our officers know which agency covers your property, call it directly, and preserve evidence and video for the responding officers.
Do I need armed officers, or is an unarmed post enough?
Armed officers fit homes with a public profile, valuables kept on site, prior incidents or long rear perimeters on canyon land. Unarmed officers fit gate and front door posts where the job is screening visitors and logging access. Many Los Angeles estates use an armed officer overnight and an unarmed officer at the gate during the day.
What drives the cost of estate security in Los Angeles?
The biggest factors are the number of posts and hours, whether the post runs around the clock (a single 24 hour post needs roughly four or more officers once relief is counted), armed versus unarmed versus sworn officers, overnight and holiday hours, and how much notice we get. Local wage floors matter too: the City of Los Angeles minimum wage rose to $18.42 and unincorporated county areas to $18.47 on July 1, 2026. We quote after a confidential walkthrough so the plan fits the property rather than a template.
Can you cover the house while we travel or during a remodel?
Yes. Travel periods are when crews watching social media look for empty homes, so we can add an overnight post or randomized patrol checks for the exact dates you are gone. During remodels we log contractor access and check that the site is closed up each night, with photos in your service report.
